GTI POST-TENSIONING SYSTEM SELECTION MATRIX

Commercial Projects (Corrosive Environment)

Per the American Concrete Institute, ACI 423.7-07, "Structures are considered to be exposed to aggressive environments when they are subjected to direct or indirect applications of deicing chemicals, seawater, brackish water, or spray from these sources; structures in the immediate vicinity of coastal ways exposed to salt-laden air; and structures where anchorage areas are in direct contact with soil. Stressing pockets that are not in a condition considered dry after construction is complete should be considered to be exposed to an aggressive environment." "The Engineer decides if the structure, or a part of the structure, is exposed to an aggressive environment. Attention should be paid to such areas as the location of stressing-end, fixed-end and intermediate anchors, construction joints, planters, balconies, and swimming pools. The more rigorous material and fabrication requirements for tendons used in aggressive environments are essential for the long-term durability of tendons used in such circumstances. " Products are be used in slabs, beams, core walls, and lateral resisting frames.
